Corruption Perception Index
Somalia scored 1.1 on Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index of 2009. The scale runs from 0 (high corruption) to 10 (no corruption). It ranked last 180th out of 180 countries. Somalia had scored 1.4 in 2007 and was ranked at the bottom, with Myanmar, in a field of 180 countries. Strife-ridden Somalia could not be included in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index 2006 for lack of a sufficient number of surveys. In 2005 Somalia scored 2.1 and, tied with Sudan, was ranked 144th among 159 countries.
