* Towards the Establishment of a Civil Society Organizations Network on UNCAC Implementation

This focus group meeting was organized based on the recommendations of the regional conference on “Supporting UNCAC Implementation in Arab Countries” that took place in January 2008 at the Dead Sea. The meeting brought together representatives of Arab Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) active in the fight against corruption, and aimed at consolidating knowledge and expertise towards the establishment of a CSO Network for the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

Within the framework of the Arab Initiative on Governance for Development (GfD), the UNDP-POGAR (Program on Governance in the Arab Region) commissioned several national studies to assess the relationship between citizens and government on the one hand, and between civil society and government on the other, with view of their participation in the process of public sector reform.

The aim of this meeting is to provide a regional framework for the interaction between representatives of the Arab relevant ministries involved in public sector reform, heads of the civil society organizations (NGO), and experts in the public sector reform and in the relationship of citizens with the public administration.
