The pace of economic and structural reforms in Libya picked up with the implementation of measures aimed at enhancing the role of the private sector in the economy. However, these reforms continue to be implemented in an ad hoc and non-transparent manner. This International Monetary Fund (IMF) assessment stressed that proper planning, coordination, and sequencing of policies in the context of a comprehensive reform program will be essential for the success of the reform efforts.
