Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights [French].
The Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights (LADDH) was legalized in July 1989 in accordance with Algerian 1989 Constitution's recognition of human rights associations.  Affiliated to the International Federation of Human Rights, LADDH was active in the early 1990s before being repressed as a result of its position on the stopping of the electoral process in January 1992, which it described as a "military coup d'etat intended to put a halt to the ongoing process of democratization."

This Commission is a consultative body responsible for monitoring and evaluating human rights situations in Algeria. In addition, it has authority to identify and investigate human rights abuses as well as examine and formulate opinions on the national legislation with the aim to improve it in Human Rights fields.
